Once again, the gate that blocked off the bottom end of Phoenix Way was opened, inviting everyone to the creepy (though much less abandoned) mansion. This time, however, instead of being guided around to the gardens, the lit path led them to the front door, where the a tall figure in a tattered robe and deep cowl gestured for them to step inside the door and get onto a...boat? Once people had climbed in settled themselves, the ferryman began to guide the ship down the River Styx. Or, okay, their long entrance hallway, with blue lights to either side of their boat to mimic water and bathing everyone in an eerie blue glow. (Yes, okay, the boat perhaps wheeled down the hallway rather than floated, but they had not refinished this house just to flood the hallway for verisimilitude. Even if Liliana had considered it for a few minutes.)

The double doors leading to the ballroom were opened, with thick fog rolling out of the doorway. And through that doorway, people could descend the stairs into the Underworld proper. Black and gold were the prevailing color, with deep red nods to a pomegranate motif. Gold coins and loose gemstones added to the decor, a nod to Hades' wealth - but even amidst all the dark opulence, touches of other colors could be seen: tucked away in various corners and small niches were flowering plants, a surprise kiss of springtime to be found in the least likely places. Rather than one large chandelier, they had several, creating areas of both light and shadow around the ballroom.

"Oh. We should have coordinated." Enjoy your ballerina girlfriend, Dean. It matched so well.

"Oh, are we a couples costume kind of thing?" Dean teased, leaning in for a quick kiss hello. "I mean I don't think I can pull off a leotard. I'm barely able to pull off polyester shorts."

He was rocking that sweatband though.

"You look fantastic by the way. I'm thinking all thunder gods should move to this look."

"Facepaint," Jane said, trying to wipe the white off Dean's lips. "I'll be sure to let Thor know he should try out point shoes."

"I just pictured him in a leotard, and I gotta say... it wouldn’t be a bad look," Dean said thoughtfully as the face paint was wiped off. "Think we should ask the band for a classical number? We could do Swan Lake, but with a gym teacher instead of a prince."

"I might even remember how to do some of the dance moves too," she teased.

"You've done ballet?" Dean asked, looking impressed.

Learning so much tonight!

"When I was much younger," Jane replied. "Stopped in high school when classes took on more importance for me."

Because someone here was a big nerd.

"Okay, you know I'm going to need to see a spin or two, right?" Dean said with a smirk. "You can't lay that on me and not expect a demonstration."

Jane snorted, but put a hand on Dean's shoulder to balance herself to attempt to go on point. At least she had the Asgardian durability for it! Then pulled up one leg, bent at the knee in a mostly graceful way.

"Tada!"

Dean was for sure keeping her from tipping over.

"Is this the part where I toss you up in the air and catch you?" Dean teased.

"We'll save that for the dance floor if you think you can." Otherwise... party foul.

"Pfft, piece of cake," Dean declared. "I'll be the Patrick Swayze to your Jennifer Grey. Nobody puts Baby in a corner."

Yes. He's seen Dirty Dancing. Shut up, Swayze always gets a pass.

"Get me a few drinks so I don't die of embarrassment for putting on a show." Look, science was something she could be that for. Dancing? God help her.

"I don't know if they have the Norse god quantity or proof alcohol to manage that," Dean joked. "We could switch? I'll jump and you catch."

Jane laughed, leaning over to kiss him for the suggestion. "You'd be an amazing Jennifer Grey."

"I do have amazing dance moves," Dean joked as he kissed her back. "I just prefer not to shame all the other party goers."

"And it's be a shame to upset Liliana," Jane added like it was something that would keep Dean from doing just that for the funsies.

Maybe if she'd said Ignis instead...

"Oh, she's already threatened to kill me once tonight," Dean laughed. "So I've met my quota for the day."

"I'd be very upset if she killed you," Jane assured him loyally.

“Oh, yeah?” Dean said with the tiniest of smirks. “How long would you wear black in mourning? Two weeks? Three?”

"Oh, at least a month," Jane said, nodding firmly. "A month is appropriate, right?"

"Oh, totally appropriate," Dean agreed. "I'm touched you'd mourn that long."

"And there'd also be vengeance," Jane added. "Do I have to attack Ignis? He seems too nice for it."

"Never Ingis, his culinary gift should never be denied," Dean laughed. "And you'd take on Elvira, queen of the damned for little old me?"

"Oh, for sure I would."

This could never happen because oh god, the damage to the island. Still not as much as Tony and Liliana just doing science together, but still.

"I could take her, don't you think?"
