There was, just then, a small, brief pause, as if the various new pieces were finding their place, and he just didn't quite know what to make of the whole of it yet.

Especially not when he doubted even this was the whole of it.

He shook his head, and kissed her again, though this one was not nearly as fleeting.

"I rather suspected," he told her with more of that smile that barely seemed to have left his face since they arrived, "you wouldn't truly just have me so idle on a day like today."

Did he mean the date, or just the beautiful weather? He felt his answer gave him plenty of plausible deniability either way.
