It had taken her steward a week to set up her office to her specifications, but now it was once more an ode to coziness and comfort once again. She currently had a kettle going for tea, while she curled up on her chaise to go over her notes for next week's class.

And maybe nap. The arrival of baggage had lasted well into the night. Rude. What Liliana lacked in different baggage, her psyche the island had decided to make up in amount of it.

Liliana once again had her lyre today. This time, rather than just playing whatever came to mind, she was attempting to learn to play a certain song. Having the chords on the screen of her phone like that made the learning process much easier, though she found she needed to mute the video; the shrill clanging of the xylophone threatened to give her a headache.

Still, for all that it required a great deal of practice to get right, Liliana had a small smile on her face, sitting on her chaise, fingers plucking at the strings.

After a lovely forty-five minute massage, Liliana was feeling quite relaxed and comfortable. And was debating scrapping the rest of her class ideas for just more massages every week. In her happy, post-massage state, she was having serious trouble considering what any of the downsides of this could possibly be.

The fact that she was also considering a post-massage nap might be a good first clue why. Hmm. A nap-based class. Perhaps not the worst idea either...

Well, after as rich a meal as that was - though Liliana had been careful to leave enough room for Wine and Dine in a few hours - she was tempted to spend her office hours drowsing on her chaise unless she had a visitor. Of course, considering her most common visitor was, drowsing on the chaise might still have been an option, all things considered. But she was fairly certain that 'drowsing' would turn into a nap, and a nap might run the risk of sleeping through Ignis' class, so instead she was going to stave off sleep by being far more productive.

Well, if 'playing silly word games on her phone' counted as productivity, anyway. She certainly thought so.

Liliana was in a nostalgic mood - unsurprising, considering the last five weeks of her class had been a grand tour of some of her favorite places in the Multiverse. Some of them, she visited frequently. Others, she hadn't visited in decades, at least not before Planeswalking there on a Thursday morning to get food for classes.

And one, she hadn't seen in almost two centuries.

While it was rare for Liliana to fall into nostalgia like this, it wasn't unheard of. One of the few downsides of being immortal - there were always things to miss. Liliana preferred to keep those to things like foods, fashions, music. The occasional favorite artist or musician or playwright, sometimes. She tried very, very hard not to miss actual people.

Or rather, she tried very, very hard not to cultivate people she would miss. She wondered who and what she might miss from Fandom when it was time for her to move on.

Nine Hells, she wished she had her the lyre.

There was a gremlin in Liliana's office today.

Liliana wasn't sure how the wretched little thing had gotten in and there was a very tense standoff for a few minutes while it hissed at her, baring dripping fangs, and she hissed back, holding up hands that were alight with power. "What," she asked, low and tight, "will it take for you to get out of my office peaceably? I like my rug and I don't want your rotting carcass to stain it."

The gremlin hissed again...but then pointed at her bag of leftovers from class.

"You...you want my food?" Liliana asked. The gremlin nodded. Liliana looked truculent for a moment before reluctantly setting it down on the ground in front of her and nudging it forward with her foot. "Fine," she said. "Take it. And if you even try a damn--" The rest of her threat when unfinished as it grabbed her food and skittered off.

Liliana slammed the door shut after it and then prowled around, making sure it hadn't licked anything or spat on something that could still give her hallucinations.

Mugged by a gremlin. She was almost offended.

Her class was now second period instead of first, which was certainly a step in the right direction. Hopefully each iteration would move her slightly later in the day, until her classes were comfortably in the afternoon and she could sleep until a civilized hour. Which would make office hours a little more tricky, but that was a bridge she'd cross and/or burn when she got there.

For now, however, she was content to hold them and use the time to unwind and relax, free of duties and responsibilities for the rest of the day. Hmm. Perhaps some quality lounging on her chaise was in order while she went over the impressions she'd gotten of her students.

Was it too early for a nice, meditative glass of wine? Okay, what if she put juice in it and called it a mimosa?

Liliana's final over with, she headed to her office more than ready to begin their vacation. As soon as Ignis' final concluded, the two of them would be heading off to Ravnica for a long weekend so she could introduce him to her favorite city. And, since Ignis adored schedules and itineraries so much, she'd drawn one up to share with him: exploring Hightower, the neighborhood her townhouse was located in, packed with educational institutions of all sorts, along with cozy pubs, rowdy coffea shops, and small lecture halls open to the (paying) public, with subjects ranging from theoretical metaphysics to fine arts; a day of shopping visiting both the Tin Street Market and the Plaza South, before dinner on the famed Millennium Platform, followed by a concert by the famous Millennium Platform Philharmonic; a quiet day of relaxing and respite, followed by a raucous evening at Hellbender, a Rakdos nightclub and dinner in one of Plaza West's exclusive bistros...In all, a trip that showed off the best of the Tenth District, and therefore, the best of Ravnica.

There came a knock )

Obviously she was still going to Ravnica. What? Was she supposed to let something like Ignis turning into a bat stop her from enjoying her weekend? Don't be absurd.

"You're making quite the merry hash of our vacation, you know," she chided her paramour, who was, it must be noted, making adorable little snoozling noises in her bosom. "You know, the one that hasn't even started yet? Don't blame me if I can't get Millennium Platform Philharmonic tickets again, getting them this time was quite the lucky break."

Men. Always turning into bats at the least opportune times, honestly.

All the prep work done for her final, save actually programming it into the Danger Shop - hmm, perhaps she should tap Prompto for his assistance with that, wouldn't want another plant defense fiasco - was mapped out and planned for, including a literal map. She was pleased with it, whether or not her students would be was a different story.

Rather than continue to poke at that, she'd turned her attention to creating a syllabus and outline for her next class. She really ought to return to Innistrad to collect some of her old books and notes and the like, but that could wait a bit. She was writing up what she could now and making notes of places she'd needed to revisit once she had access to more materials.

And she was humming, of course. Look, this was exactly the kind of thing she loved. Fucking nerd.

Look at Liliana, being in her office all responsible. Surely she was only here to give students the opportunity to come and speak to her if necessary.

Or perhaps she was simply knew that if she went home now, neither she nor Ignis would be returning for his fourth period class.

Or perhaps she was proving that her hormones weren't the boss of her and Liliana Vess wasn't about to be bullied by some pollinated bunnies.

Or perhaps, she just truly enjoyed games and this was some kind of incomprehensible move in whatever new one she was playing.

Whichever one it was, she was lounging on the chaise in her office, flipping through the copy of Dracula that she'd received for Christmas, taking notes for future lectures.

...And sometimes picking up her phone to listen to some messages, before forcing herself to go back to her book.

What a charming picture of industriousness!

Even with only a fraction of the simulation she'd had planned, Liliana thought the class had gone well and was quite pleased with how everything had turned out. Perhaps she'd teach a class on the Ravnican Guilds and use that simulation again some day.

She'd brought the elven lyre to the school, figuring she could stop by the shop after classes to place it back in the window. Even though it wasn't a harp proper, it felt more like the ones she'd grown up with than the large standing harp she'd used in class yesterday. Perhaps the aesthetic, perhaps something as simple as the size. Her mother had used a standing harp when she played, but Liliana and Allegra had been taught on lap harps growing up.

Idly she began to play again, something easy and slow, looking over her notes for next week when they would - sadly - leave zombies behind and start discussing vampires. What should she do for a capstone on that section? Perhaps a real trip to Innistrad to talk to Olivia Voldaren or Runo Stromkirk? Hmm, probably not. She couldn't run the risk of an overzealous fledgling eating one of her students. Maybe she could invite Sorin Markov to give a lecture. That idea made her laugh out loud. Perhaps Eric?

...She was studiously ignoring the existence of the other vampire on the island. She would talk to Sorin Markov for a full day before she'd allow that one to come talk in her classroom.

Liliana was certainly In A MoodTM when she got to her office today. Not only to lose valuable class time to something that wasn't part of her lesson plans, but to do so to something that was just ridiculous? That was just adding insult to injury. Those depictions of ghouls! The perpetuation of the myth that they only ate brains! The idea that they could be held off by giant plants.

She tried to sit down, realized that she was too upset for that, and prowled about her office in an angry, almost feline stalk. If she had a tail, it would be lashing.

Clearly, the only thing to do was to find whoever programmed that simulation and show them exactly what being hunted by a zombie really entailed.

After her class today, Liliana was in the mood to do some dancing of her own, but her office wasn't really big enough to enjoy it, particularly with all the furniture she'd put in there. But she could at least listen to some of the music that sounded like what had played when she'd spent a summer learning wakedancing, tapping her foot long to the beat and occasionally - very occasionally - doing a little shimmy to go along with it, the Chain Veil on her hip offering a gentle chiming every time she did.

She'd never been a big fan of wakedancing for necromancy, but as a style of dance...okay, it had been rather fun.

Liliana had found a lovely bouquet of purple and black roses when she and Ignis had arrived home, accompanied by an incredibly sweet inscription that she recognized from one of the novels Ignis had given her for Christmas - one they'd spent a few hours, at least, laughing over the differences between the vampires in the novels and the ones Liliana knew on Innistrad. Three of the flowers had come to the school with her today, as well as a quickly purchased vase, to decorate her office with.

...And until she either listened to radio or somebody pointed it out, Liliana had no clue that yesterday was a special holiday, as opposed to Ignis just making sure she came home to fresh flowers from their trip to Argentina. The real tragedy was that it meant she had no idea that today was yet another holiday, the vaunted day of 'half-price chocolates.' Woe.

But happily ensconced in ignorance, Liliana spent a few moments finding the perfect spot on her desk for her vase of flowers and then settled in to work on lessons plans for next week, the fragrance of roses mingling with her own perfume of mulberry and cedar.

While Liliana spent an hour lecturing her class about the undead, her steward had hauled furnishings and decor over to her office and found somewhere to stash the stuff that was already present but that she had no interest in keeping. So, if one of your offices ended up with double the number of desks, fellow teachers...well, actually, Liliana wasn't at all sorry about it. After class let out, Liliana headed to her office, looking forward to a delightful morning of decorating to bring her office up to her standards of aesthetics and comfort.

There was a chaise off to the side for naps, and an exquisite tea cart with a samovar and a coffee pot, as well as a plush rug and bright wall hangings, art, and bric-a-brac...as well as expensive, elegant furniture, much more fitting to her style than the standard stuff it had replaced.

In all, once she was done, her office was colorful and cozy, with even a bed for Josu tucked off to the side in case she should decide to bring him to school sometimes.

An excellent few hours of work, if she did say so herself.

Liliana had been assigned an office though idk if we're still doing those officially for her to hold office hours and meet with students if they were so inclined. She had left school immediately after her class had ended last week, which meant that this week was the first time she was stepping foot in hers.

A glance left her vastly unimpressed.

"This will never do," she decided. "Better furniture is a must." What was that desk made of? Particle board? Absolutely not. "A chaise, certainly. Tea service. A proper desk and chair. Hmm, some of my tomes, which means shelves...A rug and some better lighting, without a doubt."

Look, scholastic pursuits were all well and good, but so were aesthetics. Honestly now.
