Due to various things, Liliana was only now taking the opportunity to wander down the small road past her shop that led towards the deeper woods and that delicious feeling of black mana - which was odd, coming from woodlands. She wasn't much of an intrepid anything, never mind an intrepid explorer, but the road remained even after she'd left the town proper behind her and she was content to follow it. The woods were pretty enough, she supposed, even with the press of green mana and all that growing and life around her - give her a good swamp or an old graveyard any day - but still, pretty. And dark enough it didn't quite feel all...nature-y.
Still, she almost wished it were more like Shandalar, with something lunging out of the trees to attack her. She could use a good beast of burden, especially once her supplies arrived. Honestly, if she were to be staying here for awhile, she ought to get a few servitors, for the shop anyway. The maids at the inn were doing a credible job in caring for her belongings there.
And then she spotted what lay at the end of this road and broke out into a wide grin.
A house.
Out here was a house.
A large, stately manor house, a bit rundown perhaps, but it really only added to the charm, giving it an imposing air. It looked abandoned, though she'd have explore inside to be sure, but the bones of the house were good. If there was one thing Liliana Vess knew, it was bones.
A bit of cleaning up inside, a bit of upkeep, some appropriate furniture and this house has the potential to be quite an excellent dwelling. Especially if she got others to do all that cleaning and upkeep for her. That put finding good servitors much higher on her agenda.
She hurried up the creaking steps of the verandah to open the front door - it was locked, but a bit of magic was better than any key. Stepping inside, she found herself in the middle of a grand hall, shrouded with dust and cobwebs, the smell of must and decaying carpet rising to her nose. But the wood was sound, the fixtures looked expensive under the dirt, and the architecture elegant. Oh yes. Potential indeed. She simply had to bring this old place back to life.
Her specialty.
